Learning Journeys
Learning Journeys is a dynamic program designed for Year 10 students at Parkdale Secondary College. The purpose of Learning Journeys is to build and develop stronger relationships. The student who builds strong relationships doesn't just think about what they want; they start by thinking about what they can give back. They see giving as the best way to establish a real relationship and a lasting connection through a variety of opportunities helping them to prepare for their future pathways.
The Learning Journeys program operates on Wednesdays (Periods 4-6) and is based around three key themes:
- Personal
- Citizenship
- Community and Future
The program is broken up into short units covering - Koorie Studies; Seeing the person, not the disability; Global Footprint; Creating Conversations and Gender Me. To complement these units students will also be involved in Core Days. During the year students will be exposed to work skills, pathway planning and self-development; transferable skills such as organisation and positive study advice and structures; building positive relationships and resilience, and gaining greater awareness and investigation of real world diversity and current issues.
