Debating Teams
At Parkdale, we offer all students an opportunity to join a debating team through the Debating Association of Victoria’s competition.
This competition encourages students to improve their public speaking skills as well as their listening and analytical skills.
These skills assist those who wish to have a leadership role at Parkdale, as well as those who wish to commit to a challenging experience. The feedback they receive from professionally-trained adjudicators is detailed and designed to be critical, yet positive.
We have had students who have been awarded ‘Best Speaker’ in debates, as well as some treasured wins against some talented opposition. However, it has always been the skills learned and the confidence gained that has kept some of the same students involved year after year.
